Malaysian Minister: Malaysia-China economic and trade ties bring tangible benefits to both peoples

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Zafr said on July 15 that the economic and trade ties between Malaysia and China have brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. Malaysia's electronic products, minerals, palm oil, rubber and other products are welcomed by China; China's investment in Malaysia has stimulated the horse infrastructure improvement and manufacturing growth, creating jobs and promoting technology transfer.

  Zafr was in Kuala Lumpur on the same day to attend the first story-sharing session and promotion ceremony of China-Malaysia "Belt and Road" cooperation hosted by the Malaysian think tank Southeast Asian Social Sciences Research Center. In his speech, he said Malaysia is one of the first countries to respond to the "Belt and Road" initiative, which further consolidates the Malaysia-China economic partnership and promotes connectivity and economic development.

  With the rapid advancement of technology and increasing global challenges, the Malaysia-China partnership is more important than ever, he said, adding that he hoped the two countries would work together to explore cutting-edge technologies in the fields of digital economy, green technology and artificial intelligence, not only to promote economic growth, but also to contribute to global well-being.

  Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing said in his speech that the high-quality cooperation between China and Malaysia in building the "Belt and Road" has been fruitful over the years. China and Malaysia will take this year's 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to deepen development docking, do a good job of building the "Belt and Road" initiative and Malaysia's "Changming Economy" framework in-depth combination, to strengthen cooperation in economic and trade investment and infrastructure connectivity; enhance humanistic exchanges, and actively develop cooperation in culture, education, tourism, etc.; and promote humanistic exchanges, and actively develop cooperation in culture, education and tourism.
